Ever since she was a little girl, Priyanka Chopra aimed for the stars! Her ambition was to become an aeronautical engineer. But life had other plans in store. A chance entry into the Femina Miss India pageant, when her mother applied to the contest without her knowledge, changed the course of her life. She was crowned Miss India – World and went on to win the prestigious Miss World title in 2000, catapulting her to instant fame. In 2002, this dazzling beauty made her entry into the Hindi Film industry and has taken on many acclaimed roles in groundbreaking movies.
Priyanka made her box office debut with the film ‘Andaaz’. Her performance won favour with audiences and critics alike, winning her the ‘Best Debut’ in 2003 at the Filmfare Awards, India’s most respected and coveted film awards. With continual commercial success and mass popularity Priyanka has established herself as more than a pretty face and as one of the most talented actresses in the industry.
The year 2008 was an exceptional with 6 back-to-back releases including two of the biggest hits of 2008 ‘Fashion’ and ‘Dostana’. 2009 saw her walking away with the 14 top awards for her role in Fashion including two international awards. Her role in the women-centric film Fashion was daring and groundbreaking as was her recent role in the acclaimed film Kaminey.
In March this year Salvatore Ferragamo hosted Priyanka Chopra at their headquarters in Milan as part of the Shoes for a Star project. Priyanka will be the first Indian actress to have her shoe impression exhibited at the Salvatore Ferragamo museum in Florence, alongside shoe impressions of stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Sofia Loren, Madonna, Drew Barrymore and many more.
Priyanka Chopra, however, is not just a celebrity she is also a public figure who stays engaged with social issues and causes she believes in. Priyanka is a keen supporter of causes related to underprivileged children and more specifically for the girl child. She is currently associated with UNICEF and Save the Children.
